The Divine Fragmentation is an exotic mission in Destiny 2 that begins on the Moon near Sorrow’s Harbor and remains available in The Final Shape. This quest consists of several steps (we’ll explain each step in detail below), including destroying hidden Oracles on Nessus, collecting Vex decryption cores, and solving puzzles in the Garden of Salvation raid.

Completing the Divine Fragmentation quest rewards you with the Divinity trace rifle (more details below), a top-tier PvE weapon featuring the unique Judgment perk. This perk creates a critical weak spot on enemies, making it ideal for boosting your fireteam’s DPS in endgame activities (especially boss encounters, where all members focus on the same target).
Divine Fragmentation Reward: Divinity Trace Rifle
Divinity is an exotic trace rifle acquired through the Divine Fragmentation quest and the Garden of Salvation raid. Known for its Judgment perk, Divinity creates a large critical weak spot on enemies while applying a 15% damage debuff. This makes it an exceptional support weapon for endgame PvE (it’s considered an A-tier rifle for PvE, and B-tier for PvP), as it boosts fireteam DPS, particularly during boss fights and high-difficulty content.
Divinity remains a valuable tool in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, despite a nerf reducing its debuff to 15%. While it may no longer be the undisputed meta choice for all scenarios, its ability to ensure consistent crits and enhance team damage output secures its place as a top-tier support weapon.
What Makes D2 Divinity Special:
- Judgment Perk: Creates a crit bubble on enemies, making precision damage much easier for teammates.
- Team Utility: Increases overall DPS during boss encounters, especially for weapons relying on crit hits like linear fusion rifles or rocket launchers.
- Versatility: Useful in a variety of PvE content, from raids and dungeons to Grandmaster Nightfalls, and even for Overload Champion suppression.
Below we’ll explain all the steps on how to unlock the Divinity in Destiny 2: keep in mind that it requires a coordinated team and you will need to clear the Garden of Salvation raid.
How to get Divine Fragmentation Quest
To unlock Divinity, you first need to acquire the Divine Fragmentation quest. This quest became available after the first completion of the Garden of Salvation raid. You’ll find its starting point on the Moon near the raid entrance.
How to Start the Divine Fragmentation Quest:
- Head to Lunar Battlegrounds: Begin by traveling to the Sorrow’s Harbor fast travel point on the Moon. From there, make your way across the field toward the Lunar Battlegrounds. This is the area you encountered during the first mission of the Shadowkeep campaign.
- Enter the Cave System: Once you reach the Lunar Battlegrounds loading zone, turn left and navigate through the caves. This path leads to a large open area with a Vex gate at the back.
- Defeat Zeteon, Redemptive Mind: Approach the Vex gate and fight off waves of enemies. Eventually, Zeteon, Redemptive Mind, will spawn. Defeat this boss to complete the step.
- Claim the Divine Fragmentation Quest: After defeating Zeteon, he will drop an Exotic engram. Pick it up to officially begin the Divine Fragmentation quest. Note: This engram also contributes to the Sturm Exotic Hand Cannon quest if you haven’t completed it yet.
Step 1: Destroy Hidden Oracles on Nessus
You need to find and destroy three hidden Oracles inside Lost Sectors on Nessus. These glowing Vex objects trigger enemies when interacted with. Here’s where to find them:
- The Orrery: Found in the Artifact’s Edge area. Look for a hidden opening on the upper-left ledge of the main chamber. Interact with the Oracle and defeat the enemies.
- Ancient’s Haunt: Located in The Tangle. Inside the Lost Sector, about halfway through, check the left side of the cave for a hidden sub-cave behind a rock. The Oracle is inside.
- The Conflux: Found in The Cistern near the Vex Milk waterfalls. Go to the main hall, jump up on the right side, and find the Oracle inside a hidden opening.
Step 2: Collect 120 Vex Parts
Next, you must collect decryption cores dropped by Vex enemies. These can be farmed in two places:
- Lunar Battlegrounds on the Moon: Return to the area near the Garden of Salvation raid portal and defeat waves of Vex.
- The Garden of Salvation Raid: Vex inside the raid also drop these cores.
Once you collect all 120 parts, head to the Lectern of Enchantment at Eris Morn’s base on the Moon to proceed.
Step 3: Empower the Decryption Core
To empower the core, you’ll need 30 Phantasmal Fragments. You can gather these by defeating Nightmares or exchanging materials like Helium Filaments at the Lectern of Enchantment. Once you have enough, use the Lectern to transform the repaired core into an Empowered Decryption Core.
Step 4: Complete the Garden of Salvation Raid and Solve Puzzles
This is the final and most complex step. You must complete the raid and solve six laser tether puzzles with your fireteam. Here’s what to do:
- Activate Puzzles: Start the raid, then turn around and drop into a hidden room near the entrance. Flip the switch to enable the puzzles. You’ll see a message: “INITIATED: Security bypass protocol.”
- First Puzzle: After the initial staircase, split your fireteam between chambers on the left and right. Use the tether mechanic to connect nodes in both chambers.
- Second Puzzle: After the first encounter, head to the plain where you collect the chest. On the right side, enter a chamber and solve the tether puzzle by positioning players along the nodes.
- Third Puzzle: During the jumping puzzle, look for glowing plants and tree branches to navigate. Position your team and tether through all nodes.
- Fourth and Fifth Puzzles: These are in the circular room of the next encounter. Solve the fourth puzzle similarly to the others, then carefully guide the tether through the rotating exit for the fifth.
- Sixth Puzzle: Near the end of the raid, find a small room with Vex milk on the ground. Position players in a straight line to tether from the Vex cube to a node in the ceiling.
- Final Puzzle: In a nearby alcove, solve a complex plate puzzle involving six holographic plates. Assign numbers to teammates and communicate to align correctly. Complete several patterns in quick succession to finish.
Once all puzzles are solved, defeat the raid’s final boss to unlock the Divinity Exotic Trace Rifle from the final chest.
