What are Delves in WoW TWW

What are Delves in WoW TWW

The War Within is the 10th expansion of World of Warcraft. It follows Dragonflight and is introducing new PvP and PvE content: Khaz Algar zone, new Nerub-ar Palace raid, and new gameplay features in 2024. One of the main new features of this WoW DLC is Delves.

As we said before, Delves in World of Warcraft: The War Within are small-scale adventures designed for 1 to 5 players. These instances take around 10-20 minutes to complete and can be done solo or with a group. You’ll always have an NPC companion with you, who can either focus on combat or healing based on your needs, making it easy to try Delves with any class.

icon Below is a table with all TWW delves and locations:

Isle of Dorn Hallowfall The Ringing Deeps Azj-Kahet
Earthcrawl Mines Myomancer Cavern The Dread Pit The Spiral Weave
Fungal Folly Nightfall Sanctum The Waterworks Tak-Rethan Abyss
Kriegval’s Rest Skittering Breach The Underkeep
The Sinkhole Zekvir’s Lair

icon Delves offer different challenges each week. The maps stay the same, but the enemies, hazards, and objectives can change. This means you’ll encounter various scenarios and bosses, keeping things interesting every time you run them.

icon The main goal in each Delve is to complete special tasks which can include defeating a certain percentage of enemies, collecting items, or saving NPCs. At the end, you face a boss and then claim rewards in the treasure room.

What are Delves in WoW TWW

icon As you progress through Delves, you unlock higher tiers of difficulty. Completing a Delve at one tier unlocks the next, with the highest being Tier 11. Each tier offers better rewards, including gear, cosmetics, and achievements. The rewards from Delves scale with your level and the difficulty of the tier, so higher tiers provide better loot, including Heroic or Mythic-level gear.

icon Delves are a seasonal feature in The War Within, similar to other PvE content. With each season, new companions and rewards are introduced. Your companion also levels up the more Delves you complete, and their experience is shared with your entire Warband, making future runs easier.

WoW Delves Rewards

In World of Warcraft: The War Within, Delves offer you a chance to get various rewards depending on the tier you complete: you can get new powerful gear (which can be compared with Heroic and Mythic+ items), mounts, cosmetics, and more.

  • Treasure Rooms: At the end of every Delve, you enter a Treasure Room with chests that give personal loot such as gear, currency (Undercoin), Resonance Crystals, companion upgrades, and cosmetic items.
  • Item Level (Gear): Gear rewards scale with the Delve tier, with higher tiers offering stronger gear. For example, Tier 8 Delves drop the best gear at an item level of 603. The Great Vault, which offers weekly rewards, will also give you gear based on how many Delves you complete.
  • Bountiful Delves: They offer have extra rewards like powerful gear, bonus currencies, and a chance to get rare mounts or cosmetics. You’ll need a Restored Coffer Key to unlock special Bountiful Coffer chests.

WoW Delves Mounts

WoW Delves Mount

In the War Within Season 1, you can get 2 new mounts from delves: Ivory Goliathus (this skyriding mount is rewarded for unlocking the Glory of the Delver achievement) and the Delver’s Dirigible (you can get it for completing the Bountiful Delves quest and fully customize it with various cosmetics from other delves).

icon Here’s all you need to know about these mounts:

  • The Delver’s Dirigible is an airship mount you can earn by completing the Bountiful Delves quest. It becomes available after reaching level 80. During Bountiful Delves, you’ll need to open special treasure chests called Bountiful Coffers, which require a Restored Coffer Key. These keys can be obtained by collecting 100 Coffer Key Shards from World Quests and outdoor events or by purchasing them from vendors in Dornogol for Undercoin currency. The Delver’s Dirigible is customizable, and you can upgrade its cosmetics by completing additional Delves, earning achievements, and purchasing upgrades from vendors.
  • Additionally, there is a special version of the Delver’s Dirigible, known as the Void Delver’s Dirigible, which can be unlocked by defeating the boss Zekvir in his lair without any other players in your party. This achievement, called Let Me Solo Him, is only available during Season 1 of Delves and rewards a schematic to craft the Void Delver’s Dirigible.
  • Another Delves mount is The Ivory Goliathus, a giant beetle earned by completing the Glory of the Delver meta-achievement.

icon Summing up, WoW Delves are definitely worth exploring from the point of view of various collectibles. They offer a lot of new achievements, titles, and exclusive mounts with new upgrade mechanics.

Best Class for Delves (TWW Season 1)

Tier-S S-Tier (Top Performers)

Best Class for Delves Death Knight

icon Blood Death Knight (BDK): Blood DKs are nearly unkillable in Delves. With high self-healing, shields, and strong defensive abilities, they excel in surviving tough encounters. They can solo even the hardest Delves due to their immense durability and healing from Death Strike.

Best Class for Delves Hunter

icon Beast Mastery Hunter (BM): Beast Mastery Hunters shine in solo content due to their pet’s ability to tank and their own high mobility. They don’t need to stand still to deal damage, which makes avoiding mechanics easy. With good crowd control and solid damage, BM Hunters are excellent for Delves.

Best Class for Delves Warlock

icon Demonology Warlock: Demonology Warlocks summon an army of demons to fight for them, making it easier to handle large groups of enemies. Their Voidwalker pet can tank, and they have great self-sustain with Dark Pact and Unending Resolve. Brann as a healer makes this class even more powerful.

Best Class for Delves Paladin

icon Protection Paladin: Prot Paladins are strong in Delves due to their mix of defense, healing, and good damage. They can take on large packs of enemies and use abilities like Avenger’s Shield to control the battlefield while staying alive with self-heals like Word of Glory.

Best Class for Delves Demon Hunter

icon Vengeance Demon Hunter: Vengeance DHs are highly mobile tanks with strong self-healing and damage output. They can quickly jump between enemies with Infernal Strike and deal significant damage with their sigils, making them a great choice for Delves.

Tier-A A-Tier (Very Strong)

  • Frost Death Knight: Frost DKs are solid performers with strong AoE and single-target damage. Though not as durable as Blood DKs, they compensate with burst damage from abilities like Breath of Sindragosa and Frostwyrm’s Fury.
  • Retribution Paladin: Ret Paladins offer good damage and strong defensives like Divine Shield and Lay on Hands. They have solid AoE with Divine Storm and can heal themselves when needed, making them a good choice for Delves.
  • Enhancement Shaman: With excellent utility, healing, and high burst damage, Enhancement Shamans are versatile. They can self-heal with Healing Surge and use abilities like Earth Elemental to tank. Their mobility and damage make them strong for solo Delves.

Tier-B B-Tier (Good but Needs More Care)

  • Unholy Death Knight: Unholy DKs excel at spreading diseases and summoning minions to fight for them. They are great for dealing with large groups of enemies but may struggle in tougher situations due to lower self-healing compared to Blood DK.
  • Marksmanship Hunter: Marksmanship Hunters excel in single-target damage and can manage crowds well with Trick Shots. Their ability to keep distance from enemies helps, but they lack strong self-sustain compared to BM Hunters.
  • Frost Mage: Frost Mages are great at kiting enemies and freezing them in place, but they require careful positioning and planning. They deal solid damage but lack the survivability of some of the higher-tier classes.

Tier-C C-Tier (Average Performance)

  • Windwalker Monk: Windwalkers have good mobility and damage, but they need to manage cooldowns carefully. They’re not as durable as other melee classes, and this can be a disadvantage in higher-level Delves.
  • Shadow Priest: Shadow Priests can handle this content but are slower and more vulnerable. They lack strong defenses and healing, making them less ideal for solo content.

Tier-D D-Tier (Struggles in Delves)

  • Devastation Evoker: Evokers have high burst damage but are limited by their range and defensives. They can struggle with tougher enemies and bosses in Delves due to their lack of self-sustain.
  • Subtlety Rogue: Rogues are squishy and require careful positioning. While they have good mobility and control, they don’t perform as well in prolonged fights or against tougher enemies compared to higher-tier classes.
  • Holy Priest: Holy Priests are too slow for solo Delves, lacking the damage to quickly finish encounters. While they can heal themselves, the lack of strong defenses and long cooldowns makes them struggle in tougher content.
