Eris Morn in Destiny 2 TFS

Eris Morn in Destiny 2 TFS

Eris Morn is one of the most intriguing characters in Destiny 2. Right now she’s deeply connected with the Hive and the Darkness and plays an important role in the game’s story. Once a Guardian, Eris survived a failed mission into the Hellmouth, where she lost her Ghost and her fireteam. It left her scarred but armed with deep knowledge of the Hive’s powers and motives.

icon In Destiny 2: The Final Shape, Eris Morn gains the dark powers to become a Hive God. This transformation raises questions about her future and her role in the battle against the Darkness. In my opinion, sooner or later, we’ll see her joining the “dark side” or becoming a new threat like Sylvanas did in World of Warcraft (these two characters have a lot in common).

icon In this article, we’ll overview Eris Morn’s lore, her role as a Hive expert, her unique appearance, and her transformation into a Hive God. We’ll also discuss where she is now, how she’s voiced by the talented Morla Gorrondona, and what lies ahead for this Destiny 2 female character.

Who is Eris Morn in Destiny 2

Who is Eris Morn in Destiny 2

Eris Morn used to be a Guardian and a member of the fireteam that attempted to kill Crota. However, as I mentioned before, they failed, and after a long hard road (we’ll briefly overview her biography in the blocks of text below) she now serves as the Vanguard’s expert on Hive lore.

icon Eris Morn is not a Warlock. She started as a Hunter, a Guardian who focuses on stealth and agility. Specifically, she was a Bladedancer, skilled with knives and invisibility. After surviving years trapped with the Hive, she gained dark powers but still has her Hunter roots. Though her use of Hive magic might make her seem like a Warlock, she was and still is a Hunter at heart.

icon Here are some memorable game moments featuring Eris Morn:

  • The Dark Below Expansion: Players first meet Eris in the Tower, where she guides them through the mission to destroy Crota’s forces on the Moon.
  • The Taken King Expansion: Eris plays a key role in defeating Oryx, working with Queen Mara Sov and Osiris.
  • Shadowkeep Campaign: On the Moon, Eris finds the hidden Pyramid, and guides Guardians in the fight against the Nightmares and the looming threat of the Darkness.
  • Season of the Witch: Eris undergoes a dark transformation into the Hive God of Vengeance, taking these steps to defeat Xivu Arath and protect the Last City.

icon Eris Morn doesn’t have a specific signature weapon like other characters. However, she is often seen using Hive magic and rituals instead. She has also used a Hive artifact called the Ahamkara Bone to channel her powers. Instead of relying on guns, Eris focuses on dark magic and knowledge of the Hive to assist Guardians in their battles.

Eris Morn Biography

Eris Morn Biography

icon As with all Guardians, Eris Morn’s life before resurrection remains a mystery. After being brought back by her Ghost, she became a skilled Hunter. One of her early significant experiences was during the Great Ahamkara Hunt, a dangerous event where the Vanguard sought to exterminate the Ahamkara, dragon-like wish-granting creatures. Eris participated in this hunt and witnessed its dangers firsthand. She saw Guardians consumed by the wishes they made, including her mates. Despite her reservations, Eris retained a fragment of Ahamkara Bone, which would later play a critical role in her survival.

The Hunt for Crota

The Hunt for Crota

icon Eris’s most important moment came during the ill-fated mission to kill Crota, the Hive Prince. After the Moon was lost to the Hive during the Great Disaster, Eris joined a fireteam led by Eriana-3 to assassinate Crota. They recruited Toland, the Shattered, a warlock with dark knowledge of the Hive. Along with their teammates Vell Tarlowe, Sai Mota, and Omar Agah, they ventured into the Hellmouth. However, the mission quickly became a disaster. One by one, her comrades fell to the Hive’s powerful forces, leaving Eris the only survivor.

Trapped deep within the Hellmouth, Eris managed to survive for years by using the dark lore she learned from Toland’s journals. Her Ghost, Brya, sacrificed itself to save her, leaving Eris without Light.

Eris had to replace her eyes with Hive ones. It changed her appearance and granted her a Hive-like vision, allowing to use their dark power to navigate the Hive tunnels.

She finally escaped and returned to the Tower, but her time in the Hellmouth left her emotionally scarred and obsessed with vengeance.

War Against Crota and Oryx

War Against Crota and Oryx

icon Upon her return, Eris became an outcast among the Guardians, distrusted due to her strange knowledge of Hive magic. Despite this, she became the Vanguard’s foremost expert on the Hive and was instrumental in guiding other Guardians, including the players, in killing Crota once and forever.

Her involvement didn’t end with Crota. When Oryx, the Taken King, Crota’s father, arrived to avenge his son, Eris allied with Queen Mara Sov and the exiled Warlock Osiris to devise a strategy. Eris played a key role in guiding Guardians during the Taken War, which ultimately led to Oryx’s defeat. Her obsession with the Hive and the Darkness continued to deepen as she saw Oryx’s death as just another step toward her ultimate goal of understanding and defeating the Hive entirely.

Return to the Moon and the Darkness

Return to the Moon and the Darkness

icon Driven by her deep knowledge of the Hive and the looming threat of the Darkness, Eris Morn returned to the Moon. There, she uncovered a hidden Pyramid ship beneath the surface, a discovery that brought with it the Nightmares—physical manifestations of old traumas. Once again, Eris worked alongside the Guardians, guiding them to face these haunting enemies.

Although the Pyramid’s power tempted her, Eris resisted being fully consumed by the Darkness. Instead, she sought to harness its potential in a controlled way. This led her to align with the Exo Stranger and the Drifter, and through their guidance, Eris learned to wield Stasis, a powerful ability tied to the Darkness, as a weapon for humanity’s survival.

The Rise of Savathûn and the Witness

The Rise of Savathun and the Witness

icon As new dangers appeared, Eris Morn’s role became more important than ever. Savathûn, the Witch Queen, returned, bringing confusion and fear. At the same time, the Witness, a powerful being behind the Darkness, started to reveal its true plans. Eris, with her deep knowledge of the Hive and their magic, became a key guide for the Guardians during these difficult times.

Eris helped to find out the truth that some Hive had gained the power of the Light, just like the Guardians. This knowledge changed how everyone understood the battle between Light and Darkness. Eris also revealed that Savathûn had a strange connection to the Traveler (which made the whole situation even more complicated and harder to understand and work with).

This character believes that understanding the Darkness might be the key to defeating it, and at that moment of her story she’s doing everything possible to fight for humanity’s survival.

Eris Morn The Hive God

Eris Morn The Hive God

icon In a fight against Xivu Arath, the Hive God of War, Eris Morn made the bold choice to become a Hive God of Vengeance. She knew this was risky, but it was clear that only someone with the power of a Hive God could stand a chance against Xivu Arath. Eris created a ritual to tap into the Hive’s tithe system, a method they use to gather power through death and tribute.

During the ritual, Eris spoke the names of the Worm Gods and went through a dark transformation. Her body became covered in Hive chitin, making her look like the Hive gods she had once fought against. With the Guardians collecting power for her, Eris grew strong enough to cut off Xivu Arath’s connection to her Throne World, making the Hive God mortal. This gave the Guardians the chance to defeat Xivu Arath.

Eris’s time as a Hive God was temporary. After the battle, she returned to her normal form. However, in my opinion, this transformation demonstrated her strength and willingness to sacrifice everything—even becoming like her enemies—to ensure victory over the Hive. On the other hand, it also showed her being reckless in her pursuit of victory. This time it ended well, but like I said at the beginning, it may all end that she’ll become Sylvanas the Windrunner in Destiny 2.

Eris Morn Face

Eris Morn Face

Eris Morn’s face is one of the most striking features of this character. Her appearance is marked by three glowing green eyes, which are not her original human eyes. These Hive-like eyes were the result of her time trapped in the Hellmouth.

After surviving the loss of her Ghost and the deaths of her fireteam, Eris replaced her own eyes with those of the Hive to see in the darkness of their tunnels. This change not only saved her life but also connected her to the Hive in ways that most Guardians find disturbing.

icon Many players are trying to find pictures of her without a mask, and there is even some nice art for this query on the internet, but in my opinion, it’s just the case when the mask became an inseparable part of this character, so without it, it will be just another female, of which there are dozens in D2 universe.

Where is Eris Morn Now

Where is Eris Morn Now

icon Eris Morn’s location was near the entrance to The Tower North, where she offered bounties, items, and curios for sale. By equipping a class item bought from Eris, Guardians could join the Crota’s Bane faction.

After the release of The Taken King expansion, Eris relocated to the entrance of the Hall of Guardians. Her inventory was updated, and she now sells Class Items, Ammo Synths, Summoning Runes, and Moldering Shards. She also offers a Material Exchange, trading Hadium Flakes for Crota’s Bane reputation.

Eris Morn Voice Actress

Eris Morn Voice Actress

icon Eris Morn is voiced by Morla Gorrondona, a talented voice actress with over 15 years of experience in voice acting, dialects, and performance capture.

Morla Gorrondona’s work includes projects with major studios like Bungie, HBO, and Sony. She has worked on major titles like Destiny 2, Death Stranding, and God of War: Ragnarok.

This voice actress perfectly reflected the depth and mysterious nature of the Eris Morn. In my opinion, it’s just that case when voicing aligns perfectly with the game character.
