Best PvE Weapons in Destiny 2 Renegades

Best PvE Weapons in Destiny 2

In Destiny 2 Renegades there are hundreds of weapons total and dozens of newly-added ones. However, not all of them are suitable for PvE content, especially if you want to gather a meta loadout, allowing you to complete the hardest challenges and encounters, gathering the most precious rewards from raids, dungeons, and Nightfalls.

icon DPS (damage per second) and TTK (time to kill) are crucial metrics when considering any D2 weapons. TTK is more important for PvP, however, there are situations when considering it in PvE is also a good idea: it measures how quickly a weapon can eliminate an opponent, which is vital for clearing out large groups of enemies swiftly. Conversely, DPS measures the sustained damage output over time, essential for taking down champions.

icon The best PvE weapons are those that deliver high DPS, allowing Guardians to efficiently clear waves of enemies and defeat bosses. These weapons are reliable, with large magazine sizes, fast reload speeds and manageable recoil. Perks that enhance damage, provide health regeneration, or generate orbs of power are particularly valuable in high-stakes activities like Nightfalls and raids.

The top-tier PvE weapons often have perks that boost DPS and handling, making them meta for endgame activities.

icon In this text, we’ll explore the best weapons for PvE, and offer the meta loadouts, considering that you can equip only one exotic, and one Kinetic, Energy, and Heavy weapon at a time.

Modified B-7 Pistol (Hand Cannon)

Destiny 2 Modified B-7 Pistol Stasis Hand Cannon – Dynamic Heat Frame – PvE god roll Firefly and Headstone – PvP god roll Keep Away and Eye of the Storm – Renegades expansion

Weapon Name: Modified B-7 Pistol
Weapon Type: Hand Cannon Hand Cannon
Tier Rank: Tier-A-Tier (PvE), Tier-B-Tier (PvP)
Slot: Stasis Kinetic
Ammo: Primary Primary
Archetype: 180 RPM (Dynamic Heat Frame)
Rarity: Legendary
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? The Modified B-7 Pistol is a 180 RPM Stasis Hand Cannon built around the new Dynamic Heat frame. Instead of reloading, it builds heat as you fire and vents when you stop shooting or use your class ability. This removes downtime and rewards aggressive, rhythmic play.

  • In PvE, it excels at consistent add clear and Stasis synergy. Firefly creates an elemental explosion on precision kills, while Headstone spawns a Stasis crystal that can be shattered for area damage. Rimestealer provides damage resistance after destroying crystals, making you harder to kill. This combo turns the Modified B-7 into a crowd-control workhorse for high-end content.
  • In PvP, it can roll with Keep Away for bonus range and accuracy when no enemies are close, and Eye of the Storm to tighten accuracy during duels. The Dynamic Heat frame means you never have to worry about a lengthy reload animation mid-fight – just vent by swapping weapons or using a rift/dodge. With a Stability or Range masterwork, this hand cannon becomes a surprisingly competitive option for skilled players who can land their headshots.
How to Get it? To get the Modified B-7 Pistol, you need to participate in Renegades activities within the Lawless Frontier. It is a world drop from this region and can also be found in specific syndicate-controlled chests. Keep an eye out for “Upgraded” versions that offer better base stats and an improved Heat capacity.

Yeartide Apex (Submachine Gun)

Destiny 2 Yeartide Apex Solar Lightweight SMG – 900 RPM – Tex Mechanica style – PvE god roll Subsistence or Threat Detector and Incandescent – PvP god roll Dynamic Sway Reduction and Kill Clip

Weapon Name: Yeartide Apex
Weapon Type: Submachine Gun Submachine Gun
Tier Rank: Tier-S S-Tier (PvE), Tier-A A-Tier (PvP)
Slot: Solar Energy
Ammo: Primary Primary
Archetype: Lightweight (900 RPM)
Rarity: Legendary
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? Yeartide Apex is a Solar Lightweight SMG firing at 900 RPM, putting it in the same blistering archetype as Multimach CCX and Out of Bounds. Its true strength lies in its Tex Mechanica chassis, which gives it excellent base handling and a unique lever-action reload animation that is both stylish and functional.

  • In PvE, Yeartide Apex is a top contender for any Solar 3.0 build. The god roll combines Subsistence or Threat Detector with Incandescent. Subsistence refills the magazine on kills, letting you mow down waves without ever stopping. Incandescent spreads scorch to everything nearby, chaining into ignitions that clear rooms in seconds. With Lightweight Frame also giving you a hidden +20 mobility and sprint speed boost, you zip around the battlefield while everything burns.
  • In PvP, Yeartide Apex can roll with Dynamic Sway Reduction and Kill Clip or Target Lock. Dynamic Sway makes the 900 RPM bullet hose significantly more accurate, turning it into a laser during extended duels. Kill Clip activates after a kill, boosting damage enough to shred through overshields and rifts. Target Lock ramps up damage as you stay on target, making it one of the fastest primary TTKs in the game. Its Lightweight bonus also makes you strafe faster, a huge advantage in close-range duels. Overall, Yeartide Apex is a must‑farm for anyone who loves aggressive SMG play.
How to Get it? Yeartide Apex is a Solstice event weapon, so it is only available for a limited time each year. During the event, it can drop from any Portal activity that rewards a Distorted Solstice Engram. Choir of One (Auto Rifle)

Destiny 2 Choir of One exotic auto rifle - special ammo - command frame with ADS precision shots and hip-fire spread - Episode Revenant meta weapon

Weapon Name: Choir of One
Weapon Type: Auto Rifle Auto Rifle
Tier Rank: Tier-S+ (PvP)
Slot: Void Void
Ammo: Special Special
Rarity: Exotic
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? Choir of One is a unique Special-ammo Exotic Auto Rifle with two distinct firing modes that make it a monster in both PvE and PvP. When aiming down sights, it fires long-range, heavy-caliber projectiles that deal increased precision damage. When fired from the hip, it launches a spread of multiple detonating Void projectiles that essentially turn it into an automatic shotgun with incredible range.

  • In PvP, Choir of One can be a terrifying weapon to face. The ADS mode allows you to hold lanes with surprisingly long range for a Special weapon, letting you challenge pulse rifle and scout rifle users. But the real strength lies in the hip-fire, which functions like a fusion rifle-shotgun hybrid. Master the timing and you can pre-charge around corners or shut down shotgun apes before they get within lethal distance. Paired with builds that focus on mobility or invisibility, this weapon can dominate in Trials and Competitive playlists.
  • In PvE, Choir of One is an absolute workhorse. The ADS mode offers incredible burst damage for a Special weapon, allowing you to chunk down majors and champions with ease while also clearing squads from a distance. Its hip-fire mode is the real highlight, turning into a devastating wave of AoE that can melt entire groups. The Fanatical Lance trait makes rapid final blows cause targets to explode into a radiolarian pool, making it an ad-clearing monster. When paired with the Destabilizing Rounds catalyst, the volatile explosions can chain react across entire rooms. Against bosses, this weapon has been shown to deal staggering DPS, often doubling the output of top-tier Special weapons like Merciless when used with the proper setup and Exotic armor like Actium War Rig.
How to Get it?
  • To get Choir of One, you need to complete the Encore Exotic mission in Destiny 2. This mission is part of the Episode: Echoes content and is available in the weekly Exotic mission rotator. As long as you own the Episode, you can launch it from the Director whenever it’s in rotation. You can complete it on Normal difficulty to get the weapon.
  • To unlock the Catalysts for Choir of One, you must complete a series of quests given by Banshee-44 in the Tower. He provides a weekly research quest, which you must complete to get the next catalyst step. This will involve opening secret chests within the Encore mission and then completing the mission on Expert (Legend) difficulty.
  • Choir of One can also be crafted. The first time you complete the Encore mission, the weapon will drop with Deepsight Resonance. Completing the pattern and dismantling the weapon will unlock the pattern at the Enclave on Mars, allowing you to reshape the weapon’s perks and intrinsics.
Perks:

The weapon’s exotic traits, Cursebringer and Desperation, allow it to trigger Cursed Thrall explosions on precision final blows and refill the magazine with final blows from Cursed Thrall explosions. However, its lack of synergy with any subclass makes it difficult to use in a build. Despite this, the Necrochasm has been rising in popularity due to a recent buff to its Thrall Explosions, making it an A-Tier weapon for PvE and PvP.
How to Get it? It can be obtained by completing the “Bottomless Pit” quest, which requires farming Essences of the Oversoul from Crota’s End.

Word of Crota (Hand Cannon)

Word of Crota Destiny 2 Void Precision Hand Cannon – Crota's End raid weapon – PvE god roll Destabilizing Rounds and Repulsor Brace or Dragonfly and Frenzy – PvP god roll Explosive Payload and Precision Instrument

Weapon Name: Word of Crota
Weapon Type: Hand Cannon Hand Cannon
Tier Rank:  Tier-A A (PvE,PvP)
Slot: Void Energy
Ammo: Primary Primary
Archetype: Precision (180 RPM)
Rarity: Legendary
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? Word of Crota is a Void Precision Frame Hand Cannon that has become a top-tier choice for both PvE and, to a lesser extent, PvP. Its 180 RPM frame and incredible base stats — notably 78 Aim Assistance and 100 Recoil Direction—make it exceptionally reliable and sticky to use.

  • In PvE, its perk pool allows for powerful Void 3.0 synergy. The god roll Destabilizing Rounds (makes enemies volatile on kill) combined with Repulsor Brace (grants an overshield when defeating volatile targets) creates a self-sustaining loop of survivability and crowd control, especially when paired with exotics like Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. For pure add-clear, the combination of Dragonfly (precision kills cause an elemental explosion) and Frenzy (damage, handling, and reload boost after being in combat) is equally devastating.
  • In PvP, while 180 RPM hand cannons are not the fastest-killing archetype, Word of Crota can still be very competitive. You can build for range and consistency with perks like Explosive Payload, Precision Instrument, or Killing Wind and Rampage after a kill. Its snappy feel and excellent aim assist make it a viable option for dual primary loadouts.
How to Get it? Word of Crota is a craftable weapon that drops from the Crota’s End raid. Specifically, it can be obtained from the following sources:

  • Encounter Drops: It drops from the third encounter (Ir Yut, The Deathsinger) and the final boss (Crota, Son of Oryx).
  • Raid Vendor Focusing: Once you’ve unlocked the weapon in your Collections, you can purchase further rolls from the raid vendor at the end of the raid for 20 Spoils of Conquest.
  • Crafting: The weapon is craftable. You will need to find five Deepsight (red border) versions to unlock its Pattern at the Enclave. Once the pattern is unlocked, you can shape your perfect roll with enhanced perks.
PvE God Roll:
  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Flared Magwell (also good: Tactical Mag)
  • Perk 1: Repulsor Brace or Dragonfly
  • Perk 2: Destabilizing Rounds
  • Masterwork: Range or Reload Speed

Perfect Paradox (Shotgun)

Perfect Paradox Kinetic Rapid-Fire Shotgun – Destiny 2 Echoes reprised weapon – PvE god roll: Barrel Shroud, Tactical Mag, Pugilist or Dual Loader, One-Two Punch or Trench Barrel – PvP god roll: Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Opening Shot

Weapon Name: Perfect Paradox
Weapon Type: Shotgun Shotgun
Tier Rank: Tier-S S (PvP) Tier-C C (PvE)
Slot: Kinetic Kinetic
Ammo: Special Special
Archetype: Rapid-Fire
Rarity: Legendary
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? Perfect Paradox is a Rapid-Fire Kinetic shotgun originally from Season of Dawn, reprised in Episode Echoes with a refreshed perk pool and the origin trait Cast No Shadows. In PvE, it is a top-tier choice for close-range melee builds. The combination of Pugilist (melee energy on final blows) with One-Two Punch (massive melee damage after landing all pellets) or Trench Barrel (shotgun damage boost after a melee hit) creates a perfect loop: punch, shoot, get melee energy back, repeat. Its Rapid-Fire Frame gives it high uptime and deep reserves, and Cast No Shadows refills the magazine when you deal melee damage, so you almost never need to reload. This makes it excellent for Titans with Wormgod Caress or Synthoceps, or any class running a melee-focused build in dungeons, raids, and Grandmaster Nightfalls.

In PvP, Perfect Paradox is less dominant than slugs or aggressive frames, but it can still shine with the right roll. Slideshot and Opening Shot push out its one-hit kill range, and its high handling makes it snappy. It’s a solid choice for aggressive players who prefer a fast-firing cleanup shotgun in Crucible or Trials of Osiris. While not the absolute meta, it’s a consistent and fun option.

How to Get it? To get your first Perfect Paradox, you need to complete the Episode: Echoes Act 2 story quest. After finishing the story, the weapon is added to the general loot pool. From there, you can get it as a random drop from any Echoes activity, including Breach Executable, Enigma Protocol, and the Nessus Battlegrounds playlist. Once you‘ve unlocked it, you can visit Failsafe in the H.E.L.M. to focus Echo Engrams into specific Perfect Paradox rolls for 4 Engrams and 3,000 Glimmer.
PvE God Roll:
  • Barrel: Barrel Shroud or Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag or Appended Mag
  • Perk 1: Pugilist or Dual Loader

Hezen Vengeance (Rocket Launcher)

Hezen Vengeance PvE god roll - Quick Launch, Impact Casing, Envious Arsenal, Bait and Switch or Elemental Honing, Handling masterwork - Destiny 2 Vault of Glass rocket launcher

Weapon Name: Hezen Vengeance
Weapon Type: Rocket Launcher Rocket Launcher
Tier Rank: Tier-S S (PvE,PvP)
Element: Solar Solar
Ammo: Heavy Heavy
Archetype: Aggressive
Rarity: Legendary
What Makes it a Meta Weapon? Hezen Vengeance is an Aggressive Frame Solar rocket launcher. With its reprised perk pool and the new Timelost Magazine origin trait, it has quickly become the best rocket launcher in all of Destiny 2 for PvE damage.

The reason it stands out is the perfect synergy between its new origin trait and its perk pool. Timelost Magazine doubles the magazine size immediately after you use your Super, letting you fire two rockets in quick succession. This alone is huge, but it also interacts beautifully with Hezen Vengeance’s main perk.

The community consensus for PvE is that the best-in-slot perk combination is Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch. Envious Arsenal is the key – it automatically refills the rocket launcher’s magazine after you deal damage with your other two weapons. This reload pairs perfectly with Bait and Switch, which provides a whopping 30% damage bonus for the same weapon-swapping rotation. This allows you to complete entire damage phases without ever manually reloading.

How to Get it? To get your hands on a god roll Hezen Vengeance, you’ll need to run the Vault of Glass (VoG) raid. It’s a craftable weapon, and there are a few reliable paths to get the patterns, as well as a more powerful Timelost (Adept) version for endgame players.
